What was your favorite breakfast cereal as a kid? Leave a comment.
As kids head back to school over the next few weeks, I can’t help but reflect on the great time I had with my nieces this summer. They are smart and talented and I am lucky to have them in my life. There is nothing like being around girls that you are watching grow and mature and think, that in some way, you’re contributing to their development. I am the cool Aunt after all…
We enjoyed picnics from Westwood to LaJolla. I took them shopping and bowling, let them stay up way too late and rent PG-13 movies. We filmed an episode of Average Betty and I even bought them sugary breakfast cereal.
So, my nieces are home and preparing to return to school next week. I am left with fond memories, photos and that before mentioned breakfast cereal. Eat it? Oh no.
Turn it into fried chicken? Oh yes!
Try the same recipe… but baked? Well, maybe.
Recipe, video and all the crunchy details coming soon…
And I’m curious… what was your favorite breakfast cereal as a kid? Have you ever done anything (I know, I know) outside of the box with your favorite cereal? Leave a comment and let me know.

with out a doubt it was Froot Loops all the way for me. don’t think they’d make very good fried chicken lol! I can’t imagine what cereal you did that with Betty?!
Carlie says
Kix!!! We were never allowed sugary cereal, so Kix was a treat!
Average Betty says
Diane, I was a sucker for the Froot Loops too! I made the fried chicken using Capn’ Crunch… can you believe it?
Carlie – I love Kix too! We were never allowed to eat sugar cereals either. Cheerios, Total, Rice Crispies and the occasional box of Kix. And with five brothers and sisters that box of Kix lasted like… a day!
Love y’all,
Betty

my favorite cereal when I was kid were always changing, I think I went from cheerios to cocoa krispies back to cheerios and then I think I was on a Oreo cereal kick for a brief moment but i outgrew that one rather quickly.
